The Pocket Dojo podcast: Ep #23 - The Finale
Paul and I look back at the second series and reflect on the adventure that we embarked on together
And it’s a wrap! Almost a year to the day we started filming for the new Pocket Dojo podcast at the wonderful Broughton Sanctuary, UK, today is the final episode in the second series.
My partner-in-mischief and co-host
and I look back at the series and the themes that emerged, as well as what we have discovered and learned along the way.Firstly, thank you to the wonderful guests who gave their time and energy so generously to the rich conversations we had. We intended the second series to be about the spaces between us, yet our dialogue reached further and wider into a rich array of topics and challenges.
It feels clear that it is high time we showed up, cleaned up and grew up in many contexts so that we can create a future that is worth living in, particularly for future generations.
Paul and I have been on a huge learning curve that we feel has given us far more than we anticipated. I also want to acknowledge Andy Greenhouse and the Selfie Video School for helping us get started.
We’ve learned to create a professional quality podcast - how to script, create, edit and publish regular episodes including the use of visuals and music. We’ve created a valuable resource on regenerative leadership that we believe will be relevant for many years to come. We’ve had fantastic feedback from many different sources and are proud of what we have made together that sits happily alongside other more well-known voices in the field.
And perhaps most importantly in some regards, we’ve learned how to get out of our own way in front of the camera and to work through the inevitable creative tensions that can arise in any longer-term project. It’s been a lot of fun and a good sense of humour has always been a key ingredient.
The biggest gift for both Paul and myself has been to find our own voices, which are leading us in different directions now to do work that is important for us where we play best to our own strengths. We share a little of what that looks like currently towards the end of today’s episode.
So it just remains for me to thank Paul for our creative partnership, our enduring friendship and the wisdom to know when we were coming to the end of the road. There’s a little sadness in that, but it’s well mixed into the budding shoots of what has been emerging in recent months. Composting and hospicing is so key to regeneration, allowing what needs to die back to do so gracefully and make way for the new.
And to all of you who have watched, listened, downloaded, shared, commented on and given us feedback on the podcast. As all performers know, there is no performance without the audience. We couldn’t have done it without you.
I will be sharing about my new activities very shortly and inviting you into a different kind of experience. I’ll continue - or better - pick up writing here on Substack again more regularly, and you can find out more via my website and social media. Please also connect with me on LinkedIn if it feels right.
And you can keep up with what Paul is doing via his Substack and LinkedIn.
